When we moved to our current house the backyard was mostly grass and a few trees and bushes, no flowers to speak of really. For the past 3 years I’ve been planting native shrubs, grasses and forbs and the amount of insects and birds has increased dramatically. In the summer my wife and I like to walk through the back yard and look at the flowers and bugs so I painted this 8”x8” oil painting as a Christmas present for her to hang in her office. Hopefully it brings a sense of warmth and calm.
